Happy Mother's Day

It wasn't the easiest day...Adam was in rare form, we had one too many meltdowns, tears were shed (and not just by Adam) and I spent a majority of the day packing for a week long work trip.

But, I'll take Adam in even his rarest form, 500 too many meltdowns, tears running like spigots, and work trips galore if it means I still get to be a mom to my sweet Adam and I still get to have a great job that I love.

Mother's Day may not always go as planned, but then neither do the other 364 days of the year.  If I've learned one thing over the past 3 years, it's that being a mom is about going with the flow, even when it seems your swimming upstream.

It also doesn't hurt when you are gifted with some pretty adorable hand made and heart felt treasures...

To all you moms out there, I wish you all the love, peace, joyfulness, health, and sanity that you truly deserve, all 365 days of the year!

Making samaliches...

Our morning routine now includes Adam helping Daddy make his "samalich."  (Note: the only thing cuter than watching Adam make a "samalich" is hearing him say "samalich.)

To be honest, this new activity was prompted from Adam's stubborness in the morning, wanting to watch another Disney Junior show and not wanting to say goodbye to Froggy.  Somehow getting to help Daddy make a samalich is worthy of turning off the tv and tossing Froggy back in his bed.  Whatever works.

He is actually a very good helper, though he's been known, on occasion, to steal a few nibbles of Daddy's samalich.  Roast beef with horseradish sauce on wheat at 6:50 a.m.? Whatever floats your boat Adam.

They say that samaliches taste better when someone else makes them, and according to Andy, they've never tasted better.

Our last ride on Wally...

Fortunately before we sold Wally we were able to get one last ride in.  Adam picked up right where he left off, waving at all our fellow boaters and constantly begging to "go fast!"  He never did grasp the concept of the "no wake zone."

We had a great ride out to Tim's Rivershore Cafe where we enjoyed some steamed shrimp while Adam played in their big sandbox.

We didn't know it would be our last ride, but looking back, it was the perfect way to say goodbye.

The Green Coat...

I would be remiss if I didn't post about the biggest golf tournament that Andy plays in all year.  I may be a month behind, but better late than never.  For the past 4 years, Andy has played in our club's Green Coat tournament (remember this?).  It's a three day event and you guessed it, the winning team gets to sport green coats at the end.

While his team didn't win, they did have a great time and I'm told by his team mates that Andy was the MVP for the weekend.  He even won the closest to the pin contest on not one but two of the holes--high five!

Adam and I went to the course to cheer him on during the last round, and while we didn't get great pics of the golfers, we did get some good shots of a future Green Coat competitor.

Maybe next year they'll get theirs hands on those green coats (and maybe next year Alan can keep his hands on his driver so it doesn't go flying into a tree...that's a story for another time) ;)

Super Man...

I can't get enough of my little super hero! With super powers like his, I can't imagine how even the grumpiest person couldn't smile at this guy...

So long Wally...

After almost 7 years we are saying farewell to our unsinkable Wally the Whaler.  He's been a great boat.  He never minded that I called him a "he," and was always ready and willing to take us on great adventures on the water.
We've seen fireworks...

Explored every inch of Lake Anna...

He's driven through NYC traffic so we could enjoy a week long trip at Lake Winnipesauke...

We've gone train, plane and monument spotting...

We enjoyed evening rides and dinners on the water...

We spent lazy Saturdays and Sundays on the river (pre-Adam)...

And introduced our little buddy to the joys of boating...

We had family trips that left us with memories to last a lifetime...

We'll remember him always and we've got the Christmas ornaments to help...

Thanks Wally and God Speed...

A park by the ocean...

Our campground had amazing park options.  We loved riding our bikes to spend some time with our toes in the sand while we watched our little buddy climb, swing and slide!  He even made some friends.  This was definitely a camping trip to remember!  Can't wait to go back next spring!

Arcade...

Our campground also had an arcade.  Adam tried his hand at "wack-a-mole" and Andy and I threw down in a little game of skee-ball.  I might be biased, but I think Adam wacks a mean mole.

Can't get enough...

Adam seems to be the perfect combination of fish and land lubber!  He is an equal opportunity beach lover, devoting equal time to playing in the sand (read, throwing sand) and jumping in the waves!
Adam can't get enough of the beach and I simply can't get enough pictures of him loving every minute of it!

Putt Putt...

Our campground, Ocean Lakes, in Myrtle Beach was basically a resort filled with swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), multiple parks, volleyball courts, horse shoe courts, basketball and tennis courts, an amphitheater, ice cream shop, convenience store, and best of all, a miniature golf course.

One of my favorite traditions from all of my beach trips growing up was getting to go play putt putt so I was really excited to introduce Adam to this miniature version of the sport he's already been enjoying since he could walk.

We went in the middle of the day so we had the whole course to ourselves.  We let Adam pick out our golf balls, purple for me, hot pink for Andy, and red for Adam.  While Adam is still learning the rules of golf (i.e. you don't get to pick your ball up and move it closer to the hole, don't we wish that were the case) he still did surprisingly well and impressed us with his patience, understanding when it was Mommy or Daddy's turn to go.

Looking forward to years and years of putt putt at the beach!
