Spring Break 2018 - Easter...

We had another awesome Easter at the Williamsburg KOA. The boys woke up early and anxious to find out what the Easter Bunny had brought for them. Their baskets were "hiding" outside on our table and contained all kinds of goodies. Adam was excited to get the new Star Wars movie and lots of candy and Harper was really pumped about his bubble leaf blower toy - and opening all the plastic eggs over and over. The little joys of childhood.

As per tradition we then spent much of the day at Bush Gardens. The weather was beautiful and it wasn't too crowded. We hit all our favorite rides - some more than once thanks to the magic of the "child swap" rule. We also introduced Harper to the log flume - he loved it up until the big drop - and then refused to go again. Oops. Adam of course was dying to go a second time so we let him go by himself for the first time - I'll admit I was a little nervous but he survived and was all smiles - big kid! He also insisted on going on Mach Tower by himself - since I certainly had no desire to ride that thing again - and afterwards begged Andy to go on it a second time with him - luckily he agreed.

Once we were back at the campground it was time for an Easter Egg Hunt - Harper was really into it this year and was so cute watching him find all the eggs. Adam still plays along though I worry we're getting close to him outgrowing this tradition - booo - though perhaps he'll simply become the egg hider. :)

We had planned to get all dressed in our Easter best and go out to dinner like we'd done the year before but after a long day we all agreed staying put and ordering pizza was just so much more appealing. May not have been the most traditional of Easter meals - but we were together as a family that's really all that matters.

Another awesome Spring Break is in the books - life on the road and in the camper is just such a great escape from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives - will always cherish these trips and the memories made.

Spring Break 2018 - Williamsburg...

We rounded out our spring break by spending our last weekend at the Williamsburg KOA. Our favorite spot and it's now the third year in a row we've spent Easter weekend there - officially a tradition now.

We had some company for this part of the trip. Uncle Mark, Aunt Kathleen & Olivia joined us. They rented cabins. We had great weather and even though it was still March they had the pool open since they can heat it - that made Adam and Olivia very happy!

We enjoyed some good meals and fireside chats. We walked around downtown Williamsburg and even caught a fife and drum parade. The kids decorated Easter Eggs and spent lots and lots of time on the jumping pillow.

The campground added a new activity to their Easter weekend - a rock climbing wall. This thing was awesome and Adam had so much fun climbing it. He was able to reach the top on the "easy" side and got sooooo close on the "medium" side. He really is a good climber and I'm looking forward to taking him to some indoor walk climbing walls soon.

Of course the petting zoo is always something we look forward to. Harper wasn't real big on getting too close to any of the animals - but he liked admiring them from a distance. Adam had no fear and was happy to visit with each of the animals.

Such a fun couple of days leading up to Easter...

Spring Break 2018 - Myrtle Beach...

While we'd had a few nice stops on our trip thus far the main event was getting back to Myrtle Beach so we could visit the Harpers. We hadn't been back to Myrtle since 2015 - we left there just a few days before Harper was born and it's where Harper's early arrival began so we'd admittedly been avoiding going back - but it was time to rip off that band aid! I'm so glad we did because we had such an amazing time being back at Ocean Lakes - and of course being with Don and Mae Mae.

The weather was finally sunny and warmer so that was a great change. We did everything we could to soak up the sunshine - digging in the sand at our campsite, walking the dogs on the beach, playing at the parks, and even getting some beach time in of our own.

We were there just one week before they were going to open the outdoor pool but that didn't stop us from taking a dip in the indoor pool. Harper was loving swimming with his big brother.

Of course of all those things the highlight was truly getting to spend time with Don and Mae Mae. The kids had a blast hanging out at their house - they got to use the trampoline next door, watch the hummingbirds feed at their kitchen window and run around barefoot in their backyard. While the kids had huge smiles on their faces the entire time I'm not sure there bigger smiles than the ones on Don and Mae Mae's faces - they truly love these boys.

It was really a wonderful visit and we'll look forward to going back again soon - the boys will be begging us no doubt.

Alas it was time to move on to our final destination - Williamsburg...
