It had been nearly 14 months since we'd played golf, but we knew we'd regret it if we didn't take our clubs along. We made ourselves early morning tee times to play the Waikoloa Beach Course (yes, waking up early was never an issue) and after a little warm up at the range the day before we felt ready to embarrass ourselves at least a little. Happily, the fresh island air and perhaps the significant amount of time away from the game, had a positive impact on us and we both played pretty great! Sure we had our moments - I remember one hole thinking, "gee, I hope those lava rocks don't get in my way." So of course I proceeded to hit my ball which hit the rocks and thus my ball ricocheted across the hole to the other side. Ha! But heck, it's lava rocks - how cool a hazard is that!? :) The course was gorgeous and the signature hole along the ocean was something else. I think I had my worst hole on that one - but who can blame me? My concentration was on snapping pictures and taking in the view.
Needless to say we had a great time out on the course and best part was we were done in time for a quick lunch then out to the pool!

Playing Catch Up: Annual Green Coat Tournament
Boy, I just can't seem to get caught up! Guess it's just a sign that we've been keeping busy and while I'm gathering tons of great pictures and memories to blog about, we're just too busy creating blog worthy moments to have time to actually blog them! Will make a concerted effort to get caught up...
Even though I don't get to play in it, the annual Green Coat tournament at our club is one of the highlights of the golf season for me. I love watching Andy compete and having him talk me through his team's round shot by shot and hole by hole. This year his team was in contention for a little bit on Sunday, and while they didn't win, they did come out on top on a few of the side bets they were in.
The tournament ended up going to a play off between two of the teams which made for a very exciting Sunday evening with most of the club gathering around the greens watching the action. After three play off holes the tournament was finally won by the team we were cheering for. A past team mate of Andy's made the winning putt garnering huge cheers from the gallery!
With all the golf we watch on tv, it was fun to spend a weekend watching competition in person. Here's to next year and another shot at those green coats for Andy and his team! :)

Had to snap a photo of score board, for a little bit Andy's team was leader in Club House! Woot! |

Happy 3rd Birthday Adam!
Our little buddy turned 3 on Monday and we spent every last minute of it celebrating. The morning started with birthday bagels from Bodos in Charlottesville on our way home from Wintergreen. Adam had his favorite, blueberry!
He then got to watch "Cars" on the ride home and once home got to reacquaint himself with his trains that he had missed during our beach week.
After a nap he awoke to a birthday wonderland, and as a bonus, had Erica and Blake there to help with the celebration!
He was gifted with lots of great things from puzzles to a Lightning McQueen and Mater car, to the big surprise, his first official set of left handed golf clubs and bag!
I'm not sure there is anything cuter than our little golfer strutting around with his new bag on his back...oh wait, I know, what's cuter, our little golfer strutting around with his new bag on his back whilst wearing a VT jersey!!
After gifts it was cake time, he had requested chocolate ice cream cake, and it was a good thing he had all that sugar at 7:30 as it helped to keep him up and running around cheering for the first half of the VT home opener (there is a slight amount of sarcasm in that last part...goodness that boy was hyper, haha)!
To cap it all off, the Hokies gave Adam a victory over Georgia Tech as one last present. Not too shabby for a 3rd birthday!
We love you Adam and what a great 3 years it's been!
