Ouch!

While 99.9% of our weekend at Wintergreen was wonderful, fun, and full of laughs, there was one moment that was the exact opposite and that would be the moment I slipped, fell, and nearly broke my wrist...ouch!

To my credit, right before I slipped on our walk on the golf course I warned everyone to be careful - (note to self - take your own advice in the future!) In an effort to try and catch myself I did some painful (but thankfully not lasting) damage to my wrist. I tried to shake it off, but after the 3 hour car ride it appeared it was getting worse (and rather green and blue) so instead of going home, Andy dropped me off at the emergency room by our house. The initial X-Rays showed a possible fracture and I was told I'd need a quasi-permanent splint until I could see an orthopedist.

Having never broken a bone in my life, this was not exactly something I was prepared for. Luckily it was not actually a fracture, simply a sprain and I was out of that "cast" in 5 days, but boy was it a pain in the neck trying to shower (and ps: Andy does not know how to put hair in a pony tail, ha!) On the bright side, I got to have Adam sign my "cast" - that is once he got over his fear of it and was willing to come near me again - yes, that took 2 days...sigh.

Oh well, I'll knock on wood (softly of course, don't want to break a knuckle) that this is as close as I ever come to a broken bone...

Wintergreen w/ Reid & Ava...

Skiing was only one highlight of our weekend at Wintergreen. The best part was we had company! Kristine, Kathleen, Reid, & Ava came up to do some skiing as well. Liddy was excited because her friend Emma also came along.

We had such a fun weekend. The kids get along so well and have such a great time together. There were walks...

Rock climbing...

Air hockey playing...

Mechanical bull riding (yep, that's right...)

Of course there was iPad time in front of the fire...

They went on the "Big Adventure" around the house...

They "fished"...

...and there might have been some adorable moments in front of a bonfire...

So fun - can't wait to do it again!

Skiing!

Seems a silly title for a post being written in April, but what can I say, I'm behind. We'll get there folks, just stick with me.

Back in February we got Adam up on skis for the first time. I can still remember my first time on skis, at age 3, and hope that Adam's first run at it will be a memory he'll keep for a long time. Fun to compare the two photos, same location separated by nearly 30 years (it seems helmets have taken the place of balloons...makes sense)...

We dropped him at ski school and were promptly kicked out by the instructors - NO PARENTS ALLOWED! Which was ok with us, we simply headed across the way for breakfast and bloody mary's while we spied on Adam through the window.

Towards the end of his 3 hour session we snuck back over and got a close up look at his progress. He was doing so great and having so much fun. I wish we'd gotten up to Wintergreen sooner in the winter but we'll look forward to a ski filled winter of 2015!

Adam certainly enjoyed the post ski rest and relaxation by the fire...yup Adam, I gotcha, been there, done that! :)
