I spent all of last week in Milwaukee for my annual conference. It was hard to be gone for so long but working 16+ hour days helps to make the time go by pretty fast. It was another succesful event (800+ attendees!) and my team and I managed to have some fun as well.

Probably the highlight was getting to sit on a Harley at the Harley Davidson Museum. I had never been on a motorcycle before so it was fun to see what it felt like. To be honest, I really don't know how people ride around on those things, I'd be freaking out! I'll take my big old Yukon anyday over a bike!

I'm happy to have a great work family to keep me company while I'm away from my real family! It was a fun, tiring, exciting, stressful and succesful week, but boy am I happy to be home!

My little Hokie!

Who could resist this little Hokie? He has been a good luck charm all season (we have chosen to forget about those first two games)! :)

Go Hokies!

Clifton Day Fair

Yesterday we attended the Clifton Day Fair and had an awesome time! I couldn't believe that I had never been to Clifton before. It is probably 20 minutes from our house and yet it felt like we were on vacation in Williamsburg. I was in heaven!

The weather was beautiful and the streets were all closed so you could easily stroll up and down checking out various crafters and yummy food vendors, all set on these historic streets with these amazing homes and churches. It felt like another world.

We did some shopping, and I even came away with my first Christmas gift, but I'm not saying what it is or for whom I got it! :) I'm just excited to have officially kicked off my holiday shopping! ha!

We then found a great place to set up a little picnic. Andy and I munched on some pulled pork and red beans and rice while Adam enjoyed some turkey and cheese. In the background there was this awesome band playing everything from Elvis, to Louis Armstrong, to songs from Disney movies, like "The Bear Necessities." Adam was groovin' along for sure!

One of the highlights for me was spotting a Pinkberry tent. I couldn't imagine what a Pinkberry tent would be doing there (Pinkberry for those who don't know is this awesome frozen yogurt shop that used to only have locations in California and NYC) but it turns out that on October 22, a Pinkberry is opening up in Fairfax Corner! This makes me very happy, as did the little samples they were giving out, and even Adam was loving it!

It really was an awesome day and I can't wait to get back to Clifton to check out some of their restaurants and little shops.

Hope everyone else had as nice of a weekend as we did!

Pumpkin patch...

On Sunday we headed out to Meadow's Farms off of Route 7 in Reston to pick out some pumpkins and of course to snap some pictures!

Grandma and Uncle Mark came along as well and even though we had three different cameras going, we weren't really able to catch any smiles! I think Adam was just so mesmerized by the whole thing, as was I actually! I couldn't believe all the different types of pumpkins they had! My favorite were the Cinderella pumpkins, which I am now the proud owner of!

It definitely brought back great memories of going to the pumpkin patch as a kid and was just another little moment in time where I had to step back and realize that I was the one bringing my son to pick out a pumpkin of his own...though that didn't stop me from acting like a little kid in a pumpkin patch! ;)

Dinner party with friends...

Saturday night we headed over to our friend's Ami and Byron's home for a dinner party. Our families all grew up together, so it was a great chance to get us "kids" together with our spouses and our new little additions!

We got to watch VT beat NC State (go Hokies!) while the kiddos ran around and the older kiddos caught up with one another. :)

It's nice that we are all still close and hopefully our kids will be great friends as well!

Thanks for hosting Ami and Byron!

While we were at Wintergreen we also got to attend Oktoberfest, something Andy and I have done for the past 6 or so years! I'd say that qualifies it as a tradition, and even better, this was Adam's second time attending!

Greg and Erica actually came up to the mountain with us, which was so much fun! We had lots of yummy food and watched Tech cream Boston College! My aunt Anne also came up so she could see Adam and because Oktoberfest is becoming a bit of a tradition for her now too! :)

We had a great time sampling some tasty beers and Adam had fun dancing to the Oompa (sp?) Band and getting hit on by all the ladies!! I'm not kidding, this little 2 1/2 year old wouldn't leave him alone, haha, it was so adorable. Adam shunned her a bit at first, but then warmed up to her. Ah kids!

Happy Oktoberfest everyone!
