Adam's first trip to Wintergreen

This past weekend we headed up the mountain for Adam's first visit to Dogwood Road. Andy was able to get Friday off, so we left on Thursday afternoon for an extended weekend. It was great to have Andy around a few extras days!

Sadly, the traditional Wintergreen weather stuck around all weekend, so we were stuck with fog and rain, but we still enjoyed ourselves (we just didn't get some of the pictures we were hoping for a the overlooks and such, but there's always next time!)

On Friday, we visited a few of our favorite wineries (yay for me!) and actually enjoyed the chilly drizzly weather. We tasted some great wines and enjoyed our picnic of various cheeses, crackers and salami sandwiches-all great accompaniments to good wine!

At night we enjoyed great dinners and of course some awesome fires--always a highlight for Andy. Adam and Andy even played some "American Idol" on the Wii--always a highlight for me! :)

On Saturday we welcomed some visitors. First, my aunt (and Adam's Great Aunt) Anne came up from Charlottesville. She brought along Maddie for Liddy to play with. Ommy and Poppy also came up for the night. It was great to have the extra company and made our annual trip to Wintergreen's Oktoberfest that much more fun!

After Oktoberfest it was back to the house to cheer on the Hokies! We were very happy with their performance against Miami and were pleased to see another "W" added to their record.

It was a great weekend and we can't wait to head back and show Adam a sunnier Wintergreen! :)

A day with Grandpa

Today, Adam and I headed out to Grandpa's house for a visit (and for some free babysitting!) In preparation for the trip, I dressed Adam up in an outfit that Grandma and Grandpa had bought for him, and while it is still a little too big, I thought he looked adorable (not that I'm biased or anything!) :)

For my birthday, my parents got me a gift certificate for a few manicure/pedicures at a place in Ashburn (they are the best around) so I took advantage of Grandpa's eagerness to spend time with Adam and snuck out for a little pampering.

Adam and Grandpa had a great time (though I think Adam mostly slept) and we're looking forward to more visits (and pedicures) in the future!

Thanks Grandpa!

Lunch with Daddy

Yesterday Adam and I met Andy at National Harbor for a quick lunch. The weather was a little warmer than I had expected (the clouds threw me off) but there was a little bit of a breeze so it wasn't awful.

It was nice to get to see Andy in the middle of the day and you can't beat the views!

Adam was happy to see his Daddy and cried the whole drive home because we had to leave him.

We are looking forward to more lunches with Daddy--have to get them in while we can!

Game day!

On Saturday we got to enjoy our second Hokie football game. Adam fit much better into his VT onsie and so the whole family was decked out in maroon to cheer on our beloved Hokies.

We enjoyed some yummy tailgate food-including traditional smoked turkey legs. Adam enjoyed helping Andy with the smoker--Andy claims you're never too young to learn to grill!

While the game wasn't spectacular, we were happy that Tech pulled it out in the end for the win over Nebraska! Here's hoping our game against Miami on Saturday is less of a nail biter!

(The above series of pics took place right after Tech scored at the end of the game to pull off the win--we decided to take Adam's confused facial expressions as a sign of cheerfulness for the win!) :)

The September Birthday Club

September is a BIG birthday month in my family, and it just got BIGGER! My mom celebrates her birthday on the first, Adam and I are on the third, brother-in-law Lee is on the 7th and nephew Andrew is on the 18th, phew!

To celebrate, we had the whole family over on Sunday for a birthday brunch. It's actually fun to have so many birthdays to celebrate at one time, and I have thus annointed us the "September Birthday Club," and I look forward to many more birthday celebrations to come!

Liddy and Adam

While Liddy is still adjusting to this new little addition to our family, the two of them really are becoming great friends! Liddy is so sweet to Adam and Adam doesn't seem to mind her barking (which we are hoping goes away as she becomes more adjusted, but we'll see!) We've even caught the two of them snuggling on occasion...enough to melt your heart!

We hope this is, as they say, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

Our first outing...

Last week while Andy was still home from work (sniff, we miss him) we decided to take advantage of the great weather and get out of the house for a bit. So we packed up the car and headed out to Ommy and Poppy's house for a little visit.

While we were there Liddy got to do what she loves best-run around their big back yard playing with all of her sticks, which was a much deserved treat for her. We also decided it would be fun to head to one of the nearby wineries (a much deserved treat for me!)

Poppy and Auntie Amy came along as we did a tasting at Pearmund Winery. We had been there once before, but it had been about 4 years. The wines all tasted great (though after 9 months my palate might not have been quire as discerning) and Adam napped the whole time. We even got to spend some time enjoying a glass of wine and cheese and crackers on their outdoor patio.

It was a great day and felt good knowing we could get out and about, even with our little guy in tow.

Adam's first bath...

Ok, so here is where I'm sure you'll think I'm starting to get obnoxious, but what mom wouldn't want to document her baby's first bath!? What a cutie pie and very well behaved (aside from peeing on Daddy, oops!) :)
