Misty Mountain Camping...

For years and years as we would drive to Wintergreen we would pass by the Misty Mountain Campground at the base of the mountain and think to ourselves "gee, we ought to camp here sometime." Well, now that we no longer have the house at Wintergreen (bittersweet but a huge weight off for mom and dad) we figured what better way to spend a random January weekend than by finally camping at Misty Mountain.

I'll admit, while the campground was really nice - the weather was, well, not so nice. I suppose that's just what happens in the middle of January in Virginia! We didn't let that cramp our style too much though.

We enjoyed some good meals out - including lunch at Blue Mountain Brewery - usually a 40 minute drive from Wintergreen but a short 10 minutes from our campground. We also enjoyed walking around the campground and checking out the cool mine display they had.

The weather kept us from wanting to spend too much time outdoors at night but it made for some good cuddle & movie time for the boys - they are such good camping buddies.

Aside from wanting to check out the campground we also had another mission in mind during this visit - a trip to Monticello for our "Hamilton" obsessed boy...
