Last Hurrah of Summer...The Food...

Yes, the food we enjoyed on our trip to Cape Cod deserves its own post. It's actually one of the things we looked forward to most! We had heard that one of the best seafood joints in town was just a few minutes walk from our campground so on our first day there after we got set up we went to Arnold's to check it out and to grab our first lobster roll of the trip. It was so good and after having one bite Adam declared himself lover of all things lobster and thus began the week long effort to feed Adam lobster without going bankrupt.

Our first idea was to just buy a lobster from a seafood market and have them steam it for us. That was a fun addition to one of our lunches where we also feasted on our first cup of "chowdah."

However it still seemed like there was a better (and cheaper) way to find lobsters in the Cape. Sure enough - there was...the grocery store! We hit up the Stop and Shop (basically a Giant just a different name up there) and found lobsters on sale for $6.99 a pound. Now we're talking. So this time we got enough lobster for Adam to have some on its own and then enough meat leftover for us to make homemade lobster rolls for lunch the next day. So good and so much more meat than at one of the restaurants.

We also enjoyed some fried clam bellies - woah - those were good and Harper agreed. Best to enjoy those in moderation though. :)

We also found a great place to get Clam Chowdah from and what made this place great was you got to serve it for yourself - which meant we could fill our cup with lots of clam, potatoes and veggies and just a little bit of broth. :)

It's safe to say we ate well and we now have an 8 year old whose favorite foods are steak and lobster - oh boy! We're in trouble! :)
