Myrtle Beach - One last summer hurrah!

After a great summer of beach trips, lots of camping, fun (well, some fun) at YMCA summer camp, and plenty of pool time, we took one last trip before starting the first grade. Myrtle Beach was the destination - Ocean Lakes to be exact - and we were looking forward to a fun week spent with Don & Mae Mae, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Mark, Aunt Kathleen & Olivia.

We split the trip up with an overnight stay in North Carolina. The campground was newly renovated and one of the nicest we've stayed at - especially for a transient campground off the interstate. Kathleen & Olivia joined us to break up their trip as well so the kiddos had a great time playing at the pool together while the adults enjoyed relaxing after our drive.

Then it was on to Myrtle Beach where we spent the week playing in the sand, splashing in the waves, visiting with friends (I had two colleagues visit with us, one who happened to be vacationing at Ocean Lakes at the same time), playing more hands of Uno than I could keep track of, eating ice cream, walking the dogs on the beach, having fun at the arcade, playing "lifeguard" and just soaking up every last moment of summer vacation.

Turns out it was a good thing we enjoyed one last trip as a family of three as we were about to get a big surprise...
