Baby brother? Or Baby sister?

It's amazing how far technology and medical tests have come in just the six years since we were pregnant with Adam. These days they have a blood test that does a complete screen of the babies chromosomes to look for any abnormalities, etc. Basically takes the place of an amnio - and much safer! The bonus - at around 12 weeks (8 weeks earlier than normal) you can find out if you're having a boy or a girl - and it's far more accurate than an ultrasound. So of course we knew we were going to want to find out and we told Adam that one day we'd meet him at the bus with either pink balloons or blue balloons to let him know if he was having a little sister or a little brother.

So the day finally arrived - we had a phone call from the doctor's office with the results - which most importantly showed a very healthy baby. Since Andy was at work I asked the nurse to hold off on telling me the gender and had her call right back and leave the news on my voicemail. I then had to patiently wait 90 minutes or so for Andy to finish up a few things at work so he could come home and listen to the message with me. Boy was it hard knowing the message was right there but I was good and didn't sneak in a listen. Once Andy was home we stood together and listened to the news and then it was off to the store to buy the balloons....and then wait patiently for 4 more hours for Adam to get home from school.

To say that he was excited would be an understatement ....this little baby boy is going to have one amazing big brother!
