Happy 3rd Birthday Harper!!

Somehow 3 years have passed since Harper came charging into this world. His enthusiasm, energy, and fierceness has only grown stronger - which is saying quite a bit. Each birthday we've celebrated with him has been a mix of emotions. Of course we are thrilled to be celebrating another birthday and yet I know I still find myself reliving those memories of his early arrival and the 60 day battle to bring him home. I wonder if those feelings will fade as the years go by - part of me hopes they don't.

All that said, we did have a wonderful day celebrating our three year old miracle! We started the day with a big balloon greeting in bed - he was so excited! We brought goodies to school so his friends could partake in his birthday festivities. I then scooped him up from school early so we could continue our tradition of visiting the NICU to deliver treats and donations - thanks again to family and friends for the clothes and to Grandma for knitting so many adorable hats. The staff always loves getting to see Harper and this year he even understood a little more about what we were doing.

That evening Grandma and Grandpa came over for dinner and to share birthday cupcakes (Harper's request) with us. Harper opened his presents and was thrilled to have his own baby - Tommy Frank - who he could take care of. Smelling that Cabbage Patch doll was like a trip down memory lane - wow - the smell of childhood for sure.

Happy birthday sweet, silly, superhero Harper!
