Girl Scout Reunion...

One of my great memories of growing up was being involved in Girl Scouts. My troop (Troop 1731) started when we were all in Kindergarten and the core group of us stayed in it through 6th grade (from Daisy Scouts to Junior Scouts). Through the years we had lots of camping trips, made hundreds of crafts, played "The Knot" game at least 1,000 times and sang "Make New Friends, but Keep the Old" on an almost daily basis. A couple weeks ago Abby & I hosted a reunion of our troop and it was amazing.

We were missing a few of the girls (one due to the fact that they now call Seattle, WA home and the other due to the fact that she's "due" in a few weeks) but we had all our troop leaders and moms there. Abby even had on her Junior Scout vest - patches and all!

We incorporated a cookie swap and a service project into the evening. Everyone brought yummy cookies and recipes to share and we also asked everyone to either bring some winter weather accessories or preemie clothes so that we could make a donation to those in need. It seemed important to include that element as so much of what we did as Scouts was in service to others.

The conversations were ample and the photo booth props made for a lot of laughs. It may have been 24 years since we hung up our sashes & vests but that night it was as if we'd never missed a beat.

I can't wait to get Troop 1731 back together again soon so I can see all those beautiful "Brownie smiles."
