What a cutie pie!

I just couldn't resist sharing this photo of Adam. It melts my heart everytime I look at it! I love this little guy and can't wait until the work day is over so I can kiss that little smiling face! :)

Scott and Catherine's Wedding

This past Saturday we attended the wedding reception (they were actually married back in May) of our friends Scott and Catherine. I used to work with both of them and we couldn't be happier for them.

The reception took place at Veritas Vineyard & Winery near Wintergreen. This is the second wedding we've attended there this year (see Megan and Chuck's wedding) but we didn't mind. We brought my folks along to stay up at Wintergreen with Adam while we went to the wedding, so it worked out perfectly!

I loved her table decorations. Half of the tables had flower arrangements and the other half had these huge branches with crystal ornaments dangling down from them--gorgeous! Their guest book was actually a coffee table book all about Virginia, I thought that was very clever. They also did things a little differently, having s'mores and a truffle cake (boxes of truffles stacked up) rather than a traditional wedding cake. The s'mores were a fun activity, though I think my fingers are still sticky! :)












It was so great to catch up with a lot of my old colleagues whom I miss very much! We sure did have good times back in the days and we were able to relive some of those moments on Saturday night. Good times!

6th Annual Pre-Thanksgiving

Of all of our traditions, I think Pre-Thanksgiving has got to be one of my favorite! This year marked the 6th time that we've brought our friends together for a pre-turkey day feast!





We had some of our "regulars" there, Jenn and Ben and their now 1 year old, Owen, and Dave and Alysia. Greg and Erica were also there, we're happy to consider them "regulars" at least until they have to head back over seas (sniff). We also had some newcomers, Andy's co-worker Eric and our good friend Allison. Of course the greatest newcomer of all (sorry Allison and Eric) was Adam! :) We're happy to have him join in the tradition...perhaps he'll carry it on when he is an adult.






Andy did a great job with the turkey and actually used the grill to cook it this year. This was a great solution as it left our oven open for all the sides. Greg also did a phenomenal job at carving the turkey--not since my Granddad, the orthopedic surgeon, carved the turkey have I seen such a perfectly plated platter of turkey meat! Nicely done Greggers!




In true Pre-Thanksgiving fashion, everyone arrived with fantastic dishes to share. Erica's spinach dip appetizer and Eric's cocktail wieners (Andy asked him to bring a "man's appetizer") were a great way to start the evening, Jenn's sweet potato casserole was as good as ever, Alysia's broccoli and Allison's green beans were all gone (boo for no leftovers!), and Ben's pumpkin cheesecake was the perfect ending to yet another fantastic feast!



As favors, I sent everyone home with a box of our pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, just another way to show our thanks for the fabulous friends that we have in our lives.

2 months already!?

I can't believe Adam is already two months old!? My oh my does time fly! At Adam's two month check-up he was 10 pounds and 23 1/2 inches (a LONG boy!) He also was such a strong boy and did so well with his first round of shots...mom however did not do so good! I'll try to do better next time!

These past two months have been the BEST! :)

Our visit with Grandma and Grandpa

Last week Andy had to head to Orlando for a few days so I packed Adam and Liddy up and we moved in with my parents---I am not ready to be a single parent!! :)

We had a great visit with them and even got to see Uncle Mark, Uncle Lee, Aunt Kathleen and cousin Andrew. There certainly wasn't a shortage of willing and able holders, feeders, even diaper changers!! Can't beat that!

While I still ended up taking care of the middle of the night feedings, I must give my parents credit for trying! After I finished feeding Adam the first night, I saw my dad walking upstairs--turns out he had slept in the family room waiting for Adam to wake up so he could feed him for me!! Too cute! :)

In addition to visiting with my family, we also got to see Ami and her girls, Rachel and Laura. They were all over my dad and couldn't get enough of him reading stories to them---he really is a big teddy bear! We also got to see Sommer. And since we were there during teacher work days I got to bring Adam to my mom's school so she could show him off to all of her colleagues--a proud Grandma for sure!




We had a great visit and look forward to many more to come!

Adam's first Halloween!

Originally I had not planned on getting Adam a costume...but who are we kidding!? I broke down on Friday when I saw the most perfect costume for him to wear!! Our little guy dressed up as Liddy!!! I know I'm biased, but isn't he just the cutest!?




While we didn't take him out trick-or-treating, we did get to go to a Halloween party at Greg and Erica's house. Andy dressed up as Billy Mays (too soon?) and I took the easy route and went as Rachael Ray (give me a break, I'll do better next year). It was fun to see our friends Jenn and Ben and their adorable Pooh Bear, Owen. We also got to see Scott and Stephanie and their little "love bug" Sarah Catherine (I didn't get a picture of her, boo!)

Quick trip to Williamsburg

After our stay at Wintergreen we drove down to Williamsburg for the night. I love Williamsburg, especially in the fall, and had been wanting to go back for a visit since our last trip in 2005. Luckily we found a hotel that would allow Liddy to stay so we got to take her along as well!

The weather on Tuesday evening was a bit damp, so we didn't get to walk around too much, but we did use the rainy weather as an excuse to do some shopping! First stop, the humongous Yankee Candle store, which has a year round Christmas shop within it. We got to visit Santa's Workshop, and lucky for us Santa was there! So even though he was sleeping, Adam got to meet Santa for the first time--he even let it slip that Adam was in fact on the "nice list" so no coal for our little guy!!

Thankfully the sun came out on Wednesday so we spent the morning walking around and taking in the sites of Colonial Williamsburg. I'm looking forward to going back when Adam is older and learning about the our history.








The highlight of our trip was our two visits to The Cheese Shop. We discovered it the last time we were there and they make phenomenal sandwiches and also have a wine cellar with wine tastings so you can pick out the perfect vino to pair with your sandwich. Doesn't get much better than that!



Aside from a soggy start, we did have a great quick trip and look forward to many more family trips to come!
