Cousins
Sunday night we had Aunt Kathleen, Uncle Lee and cousin Andrew over for dinner. It was great for them to have some "one on one" time with Adam. Andrew was especially excited to see his cousin and couldn't get over how much bigger he'd gotten since the last time they saw each other. He also mentioned several times how much he "loves babies!" Which is good news as he's about to have a baby sister in about eight weeks! :)
After dinner, Lee snapped some photos for us (always a treat!) and they turned out great!! I can't believe this is the first time we've gotten a picture of Andrew and Adam together. I also can't believe how big my little boy is getting!!
Cousins are the greatest aren't they??

"I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship"
Today we took a quick road trip down to Richmond to visit our great friends, Chris and Aimee. The bonus was that we got to meet their new baby boy, Ryan. (see last month's post)
Ryan is adorable and boy does he look like his daddy!!! Though to Aimee's credit, I do see her in him as well---a great combo for sure!!
We even brought Liddy so that she could play with her friend Morgan. They had a great time running around in the backyard and kissing the babies! Mostly I think Liddy was just happy to see grass again!
Chris made his famous Chicken 'n Dumplings which we enjoyed while sitting around talking about diapers, spit up, and more importantly, future trips we plan to take together.
We've known Chris and Aimee since college and so it was a little strange to see both of us with our sons! It seems like just yesterday we were at Virginia Tech looking for great parties and trying to sneak into bars...my how times have changed!
A mere four months apart, Ryan and Adam are destined to be great friends! Though I fear what trouble they might get into when they are roommates at Tech! ;)

My Valentines...
I have to say I'm a pretty lucky gal! Not only did I have a Valentine this year, but I had three! Of course my number one Valentine is my fantastic husband who I am so thankful to share my life with. We've shared the past nine Valentine's Days together and boy am I glad that cupid shot his arrow our way!
My second Valentine was my little Liddy. She has been such a trooper these past few months and I hope she knows she is still our little girl!! She also gives very good kisses! :)
My newest Valentine, was of course, my Adam. He lights up a room with his smiles and giggles and of course melts my heart every time I look at him.
We celebrated by heading up to Wintergreen for the weekend. We were happy to get away after being "stuck" at home due to Snowmageddon (or whatever you are calling it). We didn't do a whole lot while we were there, but relaxed, watched some Olympics, and enjoyed lots of fires.
Adam and I even had a little moment dancing in front of the fireplace and while it seems ages away, I had the thought that some day I'll be dancing with him at his wedding---of course before that day, I look forward to many more dances with my baby!
On our way home from Wintergreen we stopped off at Ommy and Poppy's for a visit. We had a great time and enjoyed some great food, including my first ever taste of liver and onions, a dish that was my grandfather's favorite and one that Poppy was kind enough to make for me. We also enjoyed a very tasty Valentine's Day brownie! I'm sure it was great for Andy's mom to have both of her "baby boy" Valentines around to celebrate the occasion.
I hope everyone else was able to spend Valentine's Day with the ones they love!

Adam's new toy...
On Monday, we broke out Adam's little excersaucer (I guess that's what people call them) and he is LOVING it!!
It is amazing to watch him play with all of the little toys and he really is starting to "get it." He is pushing the buttons that "moo" like cows and "bark" like dogs and flipping the pages of the little book. It's so fun to watch him and his eyes are just so wide eyed (not that that's a surprise) as he takes it all in.
Not to mention it seems to keep his attention for at least 10 minutes or so, so we'll take it! :)

Sledding
Andy and I couldn't take it any longer! All that snow out there and we hadn't been sledding yet!! So on Tuesday night, we blew up our tube (typically meant to be used on the water behind the boat) and headed over to Dave and Alysia's for some fun in the snow! (Adam was at Grandma and Grandpa's for a little sleepover)
We had a couple rough starts, but then realized that taking the cover off the tube would make for a smoother ride, and it was all downhill from there-literally!

A Giveaway!
So my friend Kim is writing a new blog, The Project Prowler, which is fantastic!! She does so many amazing projects and I am in awe of the great stuff that she does with what seems to be little time and money. She is hosting a giveaway on her new blog and what's even better is the giveaway is a gift certificate to my other friend, Cindy's, amazing shop, Cranberries and Capers. Check it out as there are so many adorable things for the little girls (and boys!) in your lives!!
Good luck, though I'm secretly hoping that I win! :)

Good enough...
So I've been trying to snag a video of Adam rolling over, but he seems to be camera shy or something! So anyhow, I was able to catch this video the other night so you can at least see that he does have the "roll" motion down :)
Flying dog???
On Sunday afternoon, Andy and Liddy decided to play in the snow, while Adam and I stayed warm inside.
This is what happened...

Oh boy...can we say cabin fever??? ;)

Blizzard of 2010
Well, the weather folks (and the groundhog for that matter) were right about this one!! We've had probably about 20 inches or so at our house, and the snow is still falling!
Last night, Andy cooked up some homemade spaghetti and meatballs (thanks again for the sauce recipe Leesh!) and we spent a lot of time cuddling up and playing Wii Fit!
Today, Andy and I have taken turns shoveling, a futile effort as the snow keeps covering up our hard work!
Once Adam was down for a nap (which, by the way, hooray that we've finally gotten him taking proper naps-success!) we both bundled up and found ourselves playing in the snow with Liddy like we were kids again! It was so much fun and frankly, a pretty good work out as that snow is so deep!! Liddy also enjoyed herself, however by the end she looked like she had casts on her legs!! Here's evidence:

The obligatory "First Meal" videos...
And of course, I couldn't let this milestone pass without catching it on video, so here are (a few!) videos of Adam's first bites of real food!
5 months and rice cereal...
Yesterday marked five months with our little guy! He has been such a charmer these days. He gives the cutest smiles when he sees you and he's sleeping so well! He giggles non-stop and we're starting to find his tickle spots. He also enjoys a good game of "peek-a-boo" and can't get enough of Liddy's soft fur.
We've been mixing a little rice cereal into his milk for a few weeks now, but the doctor had wanted us to wait until the five month mark to start feeding it to him separately. So last night to celebrate his five month birthday, we let him have his first experience with solid foods! His facial expressions were priceless and I'm still laughing picturing it! He did pretty well and didn't spit too much out. We'll keep practicing so at the six month mark he'll be set to start enjoying some fruits and veggies!
Happy five month birthday Adam--you are sooooooooo loved!!! :)

Sweater vest...
Adam's outfit on Saturday was just too cute (thanks Aunt Anne!) so we couldn't resist snapping some photos. He is so funny with his bright eyes. No matter how much we try to get a simple smile out of him the minute he sees the camera he just gets that wide eyed curious look on his face--still cute! :)
He also got to give his rocking horse another try. He was doing a great job holding onto the handles, but then realized that petting the mane was quite fun as well. He definitely likes to touch soft textures, and is constantly reaching out to pet Liddy. He even giggles and smiles at her when she comes over to give him kisses. They are quickly becoming best friends!

Fondue
On Friday night our friends Dave and Alysia came over for dinner (and game night, though we never got around to playing any games, that always seems to be the case) and so we decided to bust out our fondue pot. Sadly, we don't use our fondue pot enough. I plan on making a point of using it more often as fondue is too good!
We decided just to do dessert fondue, so we melted up some chocolate and went to town dipping bananas, strawberries, raspberries, pound cake and mint oreos into the gooey goodness!
A fun (and tasty!) activity for a wintry night.
