Sticking to what appears to be a summer theme of exploring our National Parks (with annual pass in tow of course!) we spent a recent Sunday hiking at Harper's Ferry National Park. Just a 60 minute drive from home and with zero humidity it was the perfect outing for our family of four - plus our two four legged family members.
Andy and Adam had camped at Harper's Ferry last summer and it was amazing to hear how much Adam remembered of their hike. Before we could even get to an information sign Adam was already telling me all about whatever it was we were looking at - great memory on that kid and an even greater appreciation for learning about history - I love that about him.
The views were spectacular and it was just a fun, active, and educational way to spend our day. I especially love how energetic Adam is about doing these kinds of things - take him for a walk around the neighborhood and he's a bit grumpy about it - but take him to a cool National Park and he'll walk for miles - even run at times! Lucky for us we have lots of places like this nearby that we can take advantage of.
PS: Was also kind of cool to snap a pic of Harper at Harper's Ferry :)
