Easter Sunday was the icing on the cake after a wonderful spring break trip. The weather was perfect - actually sunnier and warmer than North Carolina was the day before. Adam had been looking forward to the day for quite some time and was so excited when it was time to wake up, get dressed, and go hunting for his basket.
Church was great, Adam behaved so well receiving compliments from parishioners left and right - proud parent moment for sure! Afterward we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's for Easter brunch. We snapped a lot of photos and whipped up some Bloody Mary's inspired by our travels.
After a very tasty brunch we headed outdoors for an Easter Egg hunt. Adam and Olivia had so much fun searching for the eggs but of course the best part was breaking them open afterwards and enjoying the treats hidden inside!
A happy Easter indeed!

Spring Break Part VI - Heading home...
After a great week in Georgia it was time to start making the trek home. We knew it was going to be a two part drive, so we pushed as far as we could get into North Carolina and stopped at a very busy campground right off 95. We lucked out and got one of the last overflow sites they had available, which actually worked out well as it gave us a pretty big grassy area to play in. The campground had some chicks & ducklings that we got to say hello to, a fitting site just two days before Easter. We also got to break out Adam's fishing rod that he got for Christmas, and while we didn't catch anything we did enjoy sitting outside enjoying the view after 8 hours in the car.
As an added bonus to our stop we got to finally dye our Easter eggs!
It was the perfect last night of our Spring Break vacation and gave us the fun and relaxation we needed to face the final leg of the trip.

Spring Break Part V - Spring Training
One of our favorite days of our trip was, as per usual, our last day. We rode our bikes to a park that was about a half mile away where they had a great play set and a huge field to play on.
Adam got in a lot of baseball practice - both batting and pitching. We all had fun seeing who could hit the ball the farthest and then enjoyed racing each other down the field - Liddy always won of course.
The play set was fun too with lots of fun things to climb on - including a ginormous Cootie! So fun.
It's mornings like that that make you wish you could extend your trip - but alas, it was time to head back north...

Spring Break Part IV - That time I became famous at the campground...
One of the fun things about camping is you never really know what might happen. You have a vague idea of what to expect - do they have a pool? What's nearby? What have previous campers had to say about the place? Etc. But since the camping experience has a lot to do with the people you encounter, it's always a bit of an unknown situation. In Tybee, I can promise you we had no idea ahead of time that someone would be driving around the campground with a truckload of just caught seafood on ice. We also had no idea that there was such a thing as the "Rolls Royce of Shrimp." But, now we know and after hearing the gentleman say they were so fresh you could eat them raw, I of course had to test that theory. So, I ate a raw shrimp from the back of some guys truck and lived to tell the tale. And oh my was it worth it. Tasted like lobster dipped in butter - so good. We obviously had to buy a bag of them - yes, he sells them by the bag - half or full.
We grilled them up for dinner that night - Andy wasn't as keen on trying them raw - and happily they were (almost) as amazing grilled up. By the end of our shrimp feast we were wishing we'd bought a full bag...or two!
Meanwhile, throughout the day, I had several campers come up to our site to ask "I hear some woman ate the shrimp raw right off the truck - is she here?" Why yes, yes I am here & I'll be here all week... :)

Spring Break Part III - Savannah
One of the reasons I was excited to camp on Tybee Island was it's proximity to Savannah. Somehow in all my travels up and down the East Coast, I'd yet to go there so it was definitely a place I wanted to check off my "to-see" list.
We picked a sunny but cool day to visit which made for a bit of a chilly walk around town, but in the scenery made up for it. We didn't do much planning ahead of time so weren't really sure what we were supposed to see or do, but we enjoyed just walking around snapping photos.
For lunch we ate at The Distellery, a restaurant owned by Erica's cousins - so that was fun. It was in a great location and they served up one of the better Bloody Mary's I've ever had - those seemed to be the cocktail of choice on this vacation.
After lunch we continued to walk around and in doing so stumbled upon a train museum and an outdoor children's museum - score!
Adam had so much fun running around and we enjoyed the sunshine. I guess it's true what they say - life really is what happens when you're busy making other plans!
