Wintergreen - King Family Vineyard...

What would a trip to Wintergreen be without a visit to some of our favorite Virginia Wine makers!? In addition to Wintergreen Winery (our favorite, and sadly it's for sale - who wants to go in on purchasing it with us??) we also hit up King Family for a picnic with my former colleague, Ali and her boyfriend Griff. It was along overdue reunion and the weather and Polo matches in the background were the perfect backdrop for catching up.

The kids had a blast running around and eating lunch on the ground (picnics are almost as exciting as Christmas for kids I've come to learn) and the rest of us enjoyed sipping on Viognier (Virginia's signature wine) and munching on all kinds of good picnic eats.

It was a beautiful day and while we neglected to snap a photo, it was a great chance to catch up with Ali (whom I'd worked with for nearly 6 years). Wonderful!

Wintergreen - Hodge Podge...

Since the 4th was on a Friday this year, it meant we had a whole weekend afterwards to enjoy Wintergreen and all the fun activities it offers.

Andy hit the links for a second round of golf with my parents, while the rest of us went to Lake Monocan for a dip and a picnic.

We spent time at the pool and enjoyed hanging out on the deck with spectacular temperatures to boot!

To top it off we got to celebrate my aunt Anne's birthday!! She seems to make it to a lot of our birthday celebrations, so it was fun to finally be able to reciprocate! We hit up Wintergreen Winery for a little afternoon wine tasting then enjoyed a great BBQ dinner & cupcakes. Happiest of birthdays to you Anne!!! :)

Wintergreen - 4th of July Celebration...

Last year's 4th of July on top of the mountain was so fun we just had to do it all again this year - with the added bonus of having the family with us. After a day spent hanging at the pool we put our red, white and blue on, packed up our picnic and headed up the mountain to participate in all the patriotic fun!

The kids had so much fun dancing to the music and running around and before we knew it the sun had set and the fireworks took over, lighting up the sky!

Oh my we are all so proud to be Americans!! USA for the win!!

Wintergreen - The Hike...

My parents' house at Wintergreen is for sale. It might sell, it might not. Regardless, we understand why it's on the market but we also secretly hope it sticks around a bit longer. Selfish - of course, I'm the youngest remember?!

Since it hasn't sold yet, we were able to head up there for an extended 4th of July  vacation. A visit to the "Treehouse" on top of the mountain meant Adam had a place to play/learn/create, an opening in my parents' tee-time meant Andy had a group to play golf with, and WiFi at the house meant I could work. Win.Win.Win.

Of course, for the actual holiday and holiday weekend, we were all able to cut loose, enjoy prepping meals in the kitchen, and best off all, spend time with family.

One of my favorite activities of the weekend was going for a hike the morning of the 4th. It was our first hike with Adam and he did great! We ran into a lot of other families on the trail and enjoyed wishing everyone a Happy 4th of July!

Spotlight on Liddy...

Oh, our sweet Liddy sometimes finds herself competing with Adam for the spotlight, but here is a post dedicated to our little puddin' head and her new toy...oh my do we love you poppins!!

Pre-School Graduation

Back in June, Adam's pre-school hosted an end of year celebration to cheer on all the kiddos about to move on to Kindergarten in the fall. There weren't caps and gowns or diplomas, but there were happy, smiling, kids who have learned their sight words, can spell and write their names, have mastered the colors of the rainbow, and so much more! These kids are ready to become students and it was so fun to hear them sing and see the excitement as they bid farewell to pre-school and look ahead to the beginning of a very important and educational chapter in their lives .

Way to go Adam!! We are so proud of you!!
